If there’s one thing I’ve thoroughly enjoyed over the past few months, it’s my weekly chats with Geoffrey Johnstone on RPP FM. Each Monday night, we have been engaging in banter about the past week in television, and occasionally straying into the world of film. These experiences have proved so enjoyable that it has convinced me to pursue a future in radio.
To fulfil that yearning, I recently joined SYN, a Melbourne-based radio network that caters to an audience of young people aged 12 to 25. As part of my induction, I was required to create a media piece of my own choosing, that being a discussion between myself and my good friend David about three of our favourite movies from the past year. That same discussion can be listened to below via YouTube.
Unfortunately, we didn’t have the time nor resources to discuss every film we loved from the past year – that article is still to come.
Below is another media piece created as part of my induction: a snippet from an FM programme on Oscar season and “over-rated movies”. (Please note that I do not consider La La Land as part of that group – that was merely a title suggested by my co-hosts.)
I’m hoping that these two pieces are only the start of a long and successful life in radio, but I guess we’ll have to wait longer to find out whether that’s the case.
Finally, since this will be my last post before the holidays, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a safe and Merry Christmas. However you spend it, make sure it’s a good one. 🙂
